This painting stands out for the originality of the realistic depiction of the subject. A green field is outlined behind the Calvary that surmounts the altarpiece, with a flock of grazing sheep, under an indigo blue sky with exuberant clouds. Only one tree stands behind the cross, marking its symbolism as the Tree of Life. In the upper part, two angels can be seen above the clouds, in a beautiful foreshortening.
