San Sebastian de Purranque Church\" src=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/INICIALIMG_0723-1.jpg\" class=\"ct-image single-image-fade-up\" title=\"\"><\/div>\n\n<section id=\"section-1-15579\" class=\"ct-section single-image-fade-up\" ><div class=\"ct-section-inner-wrap\"><h2 id=\"headline-5-15579\" class=\"ct-headline\">After the parish suffered a fire<br><\/h2><div id=\"text_block-8-15579\" class=\"ct-text-block\" >in February 2016, a non-profit foundation took charge of the reconstruction of this building, located in Los Lagos Region, at the doors of Chilean Patagonia. The interior was completely destroyed, and Granda was put in charge of the design and execution of the sanctuary and the sacristy, including all liturgical elements as well as altar linens and vestments.<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n<div id=\"new_columns-2-12675\" class=\"ct-new-columns\" ><div id=\"div_block-3-12675\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image-4-12675\" alt=\"GASPAR BUFALO\" src=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/GASPAR-BUFALO.jpg\" class=\"ct-image single-image-fade-left\" title=\"\"><\/div><div id=\"div_block-5-12675\" class=\"ct-div-block\" ><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image-6-12675\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/VIRGEN-NINO-CALIZ.jpg\" class=\"ct-image single-image-fade-right\" title=\"\"><\/div><\/div>\n\n<section id=\"section-1-15579\" class=\"ct-section single-image-fade-up\" ><div class=\"ct-section-inner-wrap\"><h2 id=\"headline-5-15579\" class=\"ct-headline\">Behind the altar<br><\/h2><div id=\"text_block-8-15579\" class=\"ct-text-block\" >a monumental relief of the Last Supper carved in beech wood and polychrome, dominates the view from the nave. On either sides of the sanctuary are an carved images of St. Alberto Hurtado, a Chilean Jesuit priest, and of Our Lady and Child. This maternal Marian image is a rarely used representation in which the Child holds a chalice in his hand, a prefiguration of his Sacrifice. The chalice here is not carved but made of metal and securely attached to wood of the sculpture.
