Due to the <strong>increase in vocations in recent years<\/strong>The facilities were outgrown and the order had to carry out a <strong>ambitious renovation and expansion project <\/strong>The new convent was to include all the facilities: residence, school, refectory, library, infirmary and chapel. A new chapel was needed to accommodate the entire community of more than 200 sisters.<\/p>\n<p>The sisters wanted a chapel that would express the personality of the community: traditional but simple, bright and feminine. With a <strong>Italian Renaissance style<\/strong>similar to that of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville. The classical architectural firm of Franck, Lohsen and McCrery did the architectural designs and <strong>GRANDA<\/strong> was responsible for providing the <strong>interior elements <\/strong>decorative elements and liturgical furnishings, in keeping with the designed architecture.<\/p>\n<p>All the <strong>elements of the presbytery<\/strong>The four polychrome sculptures in the chapel, representing the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena have been <strong>made entirely in GRANDA's own workshops.<\/strong>in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares (Madrid).<\/p>\n<p>Today, Friday, November 22, the feast of St. Cecilia, we remember this project.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Las Hermanas dominicas de Santa Cecilia establecieron su convento en Nashville, Tennessee, en 1860.
