Next October 13, the Church will recognize <\/strong>officially as martyrs to some 480 brothers<\/strong>Most of them were ordinary men and women religious from almost all of Spain, who preferred to die rather than deny their faith and their love for Jesus Christ. It will be a solemn ceremony <\/strong>which will take place in Tarragona<\/strong>. Among them are the Mercedarian religious who died during the Civil War.<\/p>\n Coinciding with this important event and the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the order's foundation, the Estercuel Olive Grove Monastery <\/strong>and the parish of San Pedro Nolasco of Barcelona <\/strong>have commissioned GRANDA<\/strong> the realization of two reliefs of Mercedarian martyrs<\/strong>. The one in the parish of San Pedro Nolasco depicts the Virgin of Mercy and three Mercedarian martyrs, while the larger one in the Olivar monastery was inspired, at the client's request, by the relief that was created in the parish of San Pedro Nolasco. GRANDA<\/strong> Sra. de la Merced, in L\u00e9rida, although in this case it is the Virgen de la Oliva that is represented. Both reliefs will be installed in the temple of the monastery and in the church of San Pedro Nolasco, respectively.<\/p>\n With these are already three reliefs made by GRANDA of the Mercedarian martyrs.
