The Brotherhood Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de la Virgen de la Soledad of Villaviciosa de Od\u00f3n (Madrid) commissioned us to embroider the image of their Virgin to be placed on a banner owned by the Brotherhood. This banner is from 1761 and in 1990, after a restoration, an image of the Virgin of Solitude printed on linen was applied.<\/p>\n
The Brotherhood asked us to replace this print with a hand-embroidered image.<\/p>\n
Two embroidery techniques have been used: the hand-embroidery with natural silk threads for the flesh tones and the hand-application of fabrics, lace and lace. Gold tesserae have been applied, topped with fine gold thread and using pearls and crystal stones imitating those found in the original image.<\/p>\n
