{"id":14508,"date":"2018-05-31T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/granda.com\/la-totalidad-del-cosmos-reunida-en-adoracion-a-la-eucaristia-la-custodia-de-la-adoracion-nocturna-de-oviedo\/"},"modified":"2022-10-06T08:47:36","modified_gmt":"2022-10-06T08:47:36","slug":"the-totality-of-the-cosmos-gathered-in-adoration-of-the-eucharist-the-monstrance-of-oviedos-nocturnal-adoration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/granda.com\/en\/la-totalidad-del-cosmos-reunida-en-adoracion-a-la-eucaristia-la-custodia-de-la-adoracion-nocturna-de-oviedo\/","title":{"rendered":"The totality of the cosmos gathered in adoration of the Eucharist: The monstrance of the nocturnal adoration of Oviedo."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi and we want to do so by presenting this historical piece of Granda: a <strong>monstrance made by our goldsmiths in 1920 for the Nocturnal Adoration Society of Oviedo.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6437\" src=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_0601.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0601.jpg\" width=\"1449\" height=\"2174\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">ECLECTICISM AND SEARCH FOR HARMONY<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">The aesthetic program of this monstrance follows the usual eclecticism that characterizes the most original works elaborated under the direction of the founder of the workshop, the priest and artist Don Felix Granda. It combines and harmonizes a multitude of different styles. <strong>symbolic elements, <\/strong>various <strong>precious materials<\/strong> -precious stones, silver, gold and pigments- and <strong>numerous artistic techniques<\/strong>Represents <strong>the totality of the cosmos gathered in adoration of the Eucharist.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\">The <strong>glare of the sun<\/strong> is represented by a fabulous variety of gems and stones intertwined with gold. <strong>The moon<\/strong>The decoration is no less elaborate, with diamonds inlaid in a large Greek cross supported by angels. The rest of the decoration is no less elaborate, composed of <strong>filigree and opals set on a light blue enamel background.<\/strong> There is also a wide variety of creatures -<a href=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/en\/2018\/04\/11\/the-tetramorphic-man-lion-bull-and-eagle-in-christian-iconography\/\">tetramorphs<\/a>angels and turtles - elaborated with the technique of the <em>cloisonn\u00e9<\/em>also known as <em>honeycombed enamel.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6448\" src=\"https:\/\/granda.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_0603.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0603\" width=\"1459\" height=\"2189\" title=\"\"><br \/>\nThe <strong>top knot<\/strong> consists of a <strong>golden orb,<\/strong> studded with diamonds mounted in the shape of a star and held in place by the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ArteGranda\/status\/985871507099475968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tetramorphs<\/a>on a capital decorated with fretwork. Don Felix, The sides of the crenellated base are lined with delicate fretwork and gemstones, and <strong>eight angels<\/strong> holding crosses and the coat of arms of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, alternately.
