SYMBOLISM OF A PIECE DESIGNED FOR ADORATION
The large size of the monstrance is characteristic of traditional Granda monstrances, as well as the deep iconographic sense of its decorative elements, always present in Don Felix's designs, especially if they were intended for the exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The custodyin whose viril the Sacred Form is to be exhibited, is the throne from which Christ reigns in Majesty.
At the foot of the monstrance we see a leaf litter of thistles in relief representing sinsurrendered at the feet of Christ.
In the macolla, which interrupts the continuity of the shaft, we can see eight seated figures representing the Prophets, since the throne of Christ is established on the Law of the Old Testament.
The virile, of gilded silver so that there is never any tarnish on the Sacred Form, is surrounded by bursts of enamel, alternating with others of gilded silver, which make up the head of the monstrance. The blue color of the enamel represents divinity. and, in the manner of Celtic crosses, they draw a intertwined that never ends and that represents the infinity of God.
Around the viril the angels sing "Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus". and underneath are scattered the vine shoots with branches, which together with the cross of the upper part, symbolizes the Eucharistic sacrifice.
