This chapel
is located in a university in the center of Rome and it was designed by architect Javier Cotelo. Talleres de Arte GRANDA took care of the iconographic aspects, proposing a sequence of four reliefs that would help the students who make use of the chapel focus their prayers on the represented scenes with Calvary as a central image.
The reliefs of St. Josemaría and St. Joseph, saints who refer to work well done, are located on both sides. On one of the sides of the chapel is a relief of the Virgin with Child, matching the other three reliefs, but with some note of color that makes it more realistic. The gentle polychromy of this relief imitates alabaster and is enhanced by the warmth of Roman light.In order to give a emphasis to the altar as a place of sacrificial action and to set it further apart from other furnishings, according to our client's wishes, a series of bronze reliefs representing crosses and stars were placed on the marble sections of the front of the altar.
The project was completed with the design and development of all the liturgical metalwork, where each piece carries a catechetical meaning.
