In this parish,
we adopted the semicircular apse and shapes of this contemporary-style church building as the starting points for a sanctuary proposal that reinterpreted the neo-Gothic tendencies of the early 20th century. The altarpiece is crafted in marbled wood and its niches are decorated with a mosaic of blue tesserae. This decorative solution also evokes the use of this mosaic technique of our founder, Fr. Félix Granda, a technique which has been present in our works from the beginning of the early 1900’s. In a central niche of the altarpiece, against a rich blue mosaic background, we suggested installing a gold-plated tabernacle. On the sides, we proposed adoring angels, also gilded, each holding a lamp for the Blessed Sacrament.The altar and the ambo are made of Carrara marble and match the altarpiece, highlighting the liturgical eminence of these elements. The front of the altar contains a gilded relief of the Last Supper, also set against a blue mosaic backdrop. On both sides of the chancel and in semicircular niches, we installed two polychrome carvings: of the Virgin Miraculous Medal and of St. Joseph with Child Jesus. For this project we also designed the iconographic program for the apse.
