Oil Painting on Panel
239 X 128 cm.
This replica of the Virgin of Guadalupe of Mexico is located on the most prominent place in the center of the Mission Revival style Baroque altarpiece. The Virgin is surrounded by a garland of flowers, as a reminder of those that St. Juan Diego carried on his tilma for Bishop Juan de Zumárraga. A gold-plated crown and a gold-plated silver halo on the head of the Virgin were also crafted by Granda and have been added to the painting crowning her image.
