Embroidery of the image of the Virgin of Solitude

The Brotherhood Nuestra Señora de la Virgen de la Soledad of Villaviciosa de Odón (Madrid) commissioned us to embroider the image of their Virgin to be placed on a banner owned by the Brotherhood. This banner is from 1761 and in 1990, after a restoration, an image of the Virgin of Solitude printed on linen was applied.

The Brotherhood asked us to replace this print with a hand-embroidered image.

Two embroidery techniques have been used: the hand-embroidery with natural silk threads for the flesh tones and the hand-application of fabrics, lace and lace. Gold tesserae have been applied, topped with fine gold thread and using pearls and crystal stones imitating those found in the original image.
