Tabernacle concealment box

We received a very special order: to build a concealment box for to cover the tabernacle with dignity of a parish in the Valencian Community. The parish priest was motivated by two reasons. Many baptisms and communions are celebrated there and at the end of the ceremony, many parishioners had their photographs taken in front of the altar with the tabernacle in front of them. The parish priest had the idea hide it so that it would not be irreverent.

In addition, he also wanted it for the celebration of Holy Mass. It is a good custom to hide the tabernacle at that moment in order to focus attention on the altar and to make it appear that God comes down to earth at the moment of transubstantiation and only then reserves himself in the tabernacle. Therefore, the most important element inside a church is the altar, not the tabernacle, as we sometimes believe.

Sometimes a leaflet or similar but in this particular case, the proposal we received in Granda was to manufacture a simple but worthy concealment box. We worked around this idea and opted for a clean design, not very abstract, so that it could not be confused with a tabernacle.

The material for the hiding box was wood.
