The GRANDA restoration team has been in charge of cleaning and restoring the artistic stained glass windows of the Church of the Conception of Our Ladylocated in the Goya Street, in Madrid.
These are the stained glass windows found in the apse, the traspeto, the main entrance and the central nave. Both the cleaning and the restoration have been carried out in situwithout dismantling any stained glass. The cleaning, carried out both on the inside and the outside, was done by means of mechanical dry cleaning of the surface dirt deposited on the surface of the glass pieces, to avoid altering the enamels and glasses.
The restoration work carried out consisted of the following replacement of missing parts with glasses of similar characteristics to the original ones, applying the same technique that was originally used, which guarantees the adequate durability of the interventions, suitably dated and marked; consolidation of the fractured pieces by means of lead profile where necessary, using the same caliber as the replaced one.
This work is part of the remediation process The building is currently under construction and will reopen its doors once the work is completed.
