Crown and rostrillo for the Virgin of the Clemency of the Monastery of Our Lady of the Incarnation of Avila.

471 years ago, Our Lady appeared to St. Teresa, when she was prioress at the Monastery of Our Incarnation in Avila. It was an apparition so real and true, that the protagonist narrates it as it happened on January 19, 1572: "On the eve of St. Sebastian, the first year that I came to be prioress at the Encarnación, at the beginning of the Salve, I saw the Mother of God come down with a great multitude of angels and place herself there on the prioral chair, where Our Lady is. In my opinion, I did not see the image at that time (the image of Our Lady of Clemency), but this Lady that I say. It seemed to me that on the tops of the chairs and on the parapets there were angels, although not in bodily form, which was an intellectual vision. The whole Salve was like this, and Our Lady said to me: "You did well to put me here (the image of the Virgin of Clemencia); I will be present to the praises that they will make to my Son and I will present them to them".

This Apparition transcended to the knowledge of the Kings of Spain, who asked the nuns to expose their petitions in front of the image of the Clemency. In 1882 their Royal Highnesses the Serene Infantas of Spain, sisters of King Alfonso XII gave a crown of gilded silver for the Virgin of the Clemency.

Granda has just made a new crown and rostrillo for the Virgin of the Clemency that is in the Monastery of Our Lady of the Incarnation in Avila. It is a donation from a private individual. The crown and the rosette have been made in silver with zircons and aquamarines.
