Prelatic Chasuble and Miter Ensemble
Natural silk with gold and velvet stripes
Diocese of Avila
The checkered decoration of this chasuble is fashioned with hand-braided velvet ribbons and openwork chevrons of gold threads drawing a beautiful cross shape on velvet. One of the orphreys highlights gold thread embroidered episcopal shield while the other reproduces, also in gold thread, the ancient Christogram found in the historic Romanesque church of St. Andrés de Ávila dating from the 11th century.
