Bronze Finish Resin

Resin cast from a sculpture modeled in clay. Our sculptor used a textured plastic technique, to try to depict St. Josemaría in a realistic way, adhering to his anatomical features according to the usual methods of portraits. In the attire, this realism also opens the door to subtle expressionism, eloquent especially in the treatment of the chasuble. Beneath the outer vestment, you can see lace trimmed alb and an amice, in a style which St. Josemaria frequently used. On the central panel of the chasuble, we find embroidery motifs in extraordinary relief. These reliefs are not a mere ornament. In this regard, the chasuble is inspired by the one Escriva used at the Holy Mass on October 8, 1967 at the University of Navarra, where he delivered his famous homily “Passionately Loving the World”. On the reverse side of the chasuble, we find a replica of the gilded rose that St. Josemaria found in the Rialp Mountains, during a moment of great doubt while he was fleeing the Civil War in Spain through the Pyrenees. This special Rose was the confirmation that he was acting in accordance with the will of God.
