Fides, evangelizing through art

Making an exhibition a plastic catechesis for bringing the visitor closer to the mystery of faith. This is what the Diocese of Albacete through the exhibition Fidesorganized on the occasion of the Year of Faith.

Through 51 pieces The exhibition, with a great historical, artistic and theological richness and six historical stops, introduces the visitor to the different mysteries of the Faith.

Fides
The first section of the exhibition introduces the visitor to the world of faith and its public representation. From the most symbolic -a blindfolded woman: faith is believing without seeing-, to its public manifestation as the Hellin sarcophagus or the extraordinary custody of Yuste.


Porta fidei. The door that introduces to the life of communion with God is Baptismrepresented in the exhibition, among other elements, by a Sotuelamos pilea jewel of the 13th century.

Credo. The articles of the Creed are reviewed from ten works of authors such as Juan de Mesa or Fray Antonio de Villanueva. Paintings, sculptures and even chasubles and dalmatics, magnificently embroidered that in their iconography represent virgins, martyrs, evangelists. The Church and the Communion of Saints.

Sacramentum fidei. the exhibition presents jewelry of the Diocese of Albacete linked to the celebration of the EucharistFrom a tabernacle with an Ecce Homo from the parish of Santiago Apóstol de Lietor, to monstrances, chalices or ciboria.

Vita fidei. The profession creates witnesses, examples of faith that have marked the last two thousand years of our history and that are represented in images in this exhibition: an Immaculate Conception, the heralds of the Gospel, such as St. John the Baptist, St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Francis or St. Clare. Martyrs, such as St. Lawrence, or converts, such as St. Mary Magdalene.

Signum cristianorum. The cross is the sign of the Christians. The exhibition concludes with a processional cross from 1574, from the parish church of the Assumption in Jonquera.
