GRANDA makes a Stations of the Cross for St. Pius X Catholic Church in North America

The artisans of the GRANDA workshops have elaborated a Stations of the Cross for the St Pius X Catholic Church's diary chapel in Fairfield, Conn. (United States).

Made in monochrome resin and framed in varnished woodThe Way of the Cross is represented by a series of fourteen scenes of the Passion, called the "Way of the Cross". Stations, corresponding to particular incidents that, according to the Gospels, Jesus suffered for the salvation of humanity, from the time he was arrested until his crucifixion and burial. The scenes measure 35 x 45 cm in height. The frames are made of cedar wood with gilded details and an engraved cross on the top of the framing.

The Stations of the Cross made by GRANDA shows, through the different images, thefourteen stations of the cross(1) Jesus is condemned to death; (2) Jesus carries the cross; (3) Jesus falls the first time; (4) Jesus meets his mother Mary; (5) Simon the Cyrene helps Jesus carry the cross; (6) Veronica wipes Jesus' face; (7) Jesus falls the second time; (8) Jesus consoles the women of Jerusalem; (9) Jesus falls the third time; (10) Jesus is stripped of his clothes; (11) Jesus is nailed to the cross; (12) Jesus dies the third time: Jesus comforts the women of Jerusalem; (9) Jesus falls a third time; (10) Jesus is stripped of his clothes; (11) Jesus is nailed to the cross; (12) Jesus dies on the cross; (13) Jesus is taken down from the cross and placed in the arms of Mary, his mother; (14) Jesus is buried.

It was Benedict XIV who, in 1742, exhorted all priests to enrich their churches with the Stations of the Cross, a tradition that has survived ever since.
