On March 28, the ceremony to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the birth of St. Teresa of Jesus took place in Avila. After a first Eucharist celebrated in the convent of the Saint of Avila, presided over by the Bishop of Avila, D. Jesus Garcia Burillo, and in which almost a thousand people were present, inside and outside the convent, a second Eucharist was held in the cathedral of Avila. Open to all citizens, it was attended by about 1,400 people.
The Mass, presided by Cardinal D. Antonio Cañizares, Archbishop of Valencia, counted with the intervention of the choir of the V Centenary.
Granda was in charge of making more than 140 chasubles for such a solemn occasion. The chasubles, damascened and embroidered with golden threads, are machine-embroidered with a reproduction of the chrism of the parish church of San Andrés de Ávila.
