GRANDA's major projects: St. Cecilia's Convent Chapel in Nashville, Tennessee (USA)

The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia established their convent in NashvilleTennessee, in 1860. Due to the increase in vocations in recent yearsThe facilities were outgrown and the order had to carry out a ambitious renovation and expansion project The new convent was to include all the facilities: residence, school, refectory, library, infirmary and chapel. A new chapel was needed to accommodate the entire community of more than 200 sisters.

The sisters wanted a chapel that would express the personality of the community: traditional but simple, bright and feminine. With a Italian Renaissance stylesimilar to that of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville. The classical architectural firm of Franck, Lohsen and McCrery did the architectural designs and GRANDA was responsible for providing the interior elements decorative elements and liturgical furnishings, in keeping with the designed architecture.

All the elements of the presbyteryThe four polychrome sculptures in the chapel, representing the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena have been made entirely in GRANDA's own workshops.in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).
