Today, Wednesday, October 15, is the official inauguration of the V Centenary of the Birth of Saint Teresa of Jesus with the celebration of the Holy Mass, officiated by Monsignor Ricardo BlázquezPresident of the Spanish Episcopal Conference. More than 6,500 people from various countries are expected to attend, thus completing the available capacity in the Plaza de Santa Teresa.
The ceremony will be followed by a procession with images of Santa Teresa and the Virgin of Charity which will depart from the Mercado Grande and will travel the streets of Avila. The Eucharist on Wednesday will be the preamble to the Carmelite pilgrimage "Camino de la Luz" that will carry as a relic the cane of St. Teresa and receive the Episcopal blessing.
The Mass will be broadcast live on 13TV.
