Three months of work have been necessary to realize this project. canopy of the Christ of the Humilladero of Colmenar de Oreja. The canopy has been completely handcrafted, embroidered on both sidesfor the workshop Los Rosaleswho performs all the embroidery work for GRANDA. The technique used was that of the hand embroidered with gold thread and hand-tinting with colored silks.
On the front, a fretwork has been embroidered on the contour of the canopy and fleurs-de-lis, dotted with a clear Marian reference.
A coat of arms has been embroidered on the back using various hand techniques: nuanced embroidery, gold embroidery and appliqué embroidery. In this part of the canopy, crosses of Santiago have been embroidered by hand and with gold threads.
The work also consisted of the embroidery and subsequent upholstery of a canopy from which the canopy hangs, all finished with braid and fringe of canutillo with boullons, both in fine gold.
This work has been carried out in the artisan workshop Los Rosales, located in Villaviciosa de Odón, using for it ancient techniques embroidery that have been passed down from generation to generation.
