The dogma of the Immaculate Conception, as expressed in the bull Ineffabilis DeusThe apostolic epistle of Pius IX, published on December 8, 1854, refers to Mary as free from all sin from the very moment of conception:

It also contrasts the figure of Mary with that of Eve in relation to the fall and redemption of the human race and exalts Mary's purity and divine maternity.

The feast of the Immaculate Conception has been celebrated in Spain on December 8 since 1644, although already in Spain, during the Middle Ages, there was a popular devotion to the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The date was set 9 months before the celebration of Mary's birth, which the Church celebrates on September 8.

A special chasuble, symbol of Mary's purity

The Marian chasublesymbol of the purity and virginity of Mary is used for the feasts of the Virgin. In order to use this blue chasuble a special permission from the Holy See is needed, a permission that was granted to Spain in 1864 as thanks to the defense of the dogmas of the Immaculate Conception.

The coloring of these chasubles, based on different shades of blueis inspired by the Christian tradition, since these colors have been associated since ancient times with the Virgin in her representation of purity and truth.

The chasuble, of white color, has been embroidered by hand with the technique of shading with natural silk thread.
