The Chalices

The chalice, beyond its material function, also has a ritual nature ritual in the celebration. Its materials, the way it was made and its beauty: everything must reflect the offering to God the chalice represents and the solemnity of the worship to which it is consecrated. These pieces are often enriched with iconographic symbols and inscriptions.

Thus, it is common for the ordained seminarian to ask us for a chalice specially designed for him, with signs that often reflect particular aspects of his spirituality. The calyx with which the ordinand will celebrate his first Mass is a customary gift from his family and friends.

The chasuble

Because of the relevance of priestly ordinations, it is a tradition that the chasubles often specially designed for the future priest. The importance of this liturgical vestment and of the other textile vestments used in the celebration led a priest, St. Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer, to found our Artisan Workshop in Los Rosales.

In it we keep alive the hand embroidery and other traditional techniques, which allows us to introduce in the priestly chasuble the iconography and symbols chosen by the ordinand. The chasubles are always accompanied by the stole and a special matching pallia of special design usually completes the ensemble.
