It was a challenge. The U.S. architectural firm, Rhon & Associatescontacted us to coordinate and carry out the realization of a customized tabernacle for the St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester (Massachusetts)).

The idea was to carry out a semicircular tabernacle which was to be embedded in a column. The door of the tabernacle would be decorated with three enamels, hand painted, representing: in the upper part, the Holy Spirit; in the central part, corresponding to the door, the Agnus Dei on the altar; and in the lower part, an enamel with adoring angels.

Rhon drew the design but asked us for technical suggestions that would make its realization possible, as well as its elaboration.

It was decided to prepare a wooden structure on which to mount the tabernacle and then fit it into the pillar that Rhon & Associates would manufacture in the United States. This wooden structure would serve as a base for us, but would be completely hidden by the tabernacle. The lower and upper holes would be plated in gold metal.

A 106 cm tabernacle door, as they proposed, was impossible to build because it would weigh too much and would eventually sag under its own weight.

Once our suggestions were accepted, the construction and the design of the drawings for the enamels, which were in charge of Luis Manuel Rodriguez, draftsman of Granda's Projects Department, was started.
This is the result.
