The historic image of the crucified Christ
that belongs to the parish of Tonbridge has many devotees. And in the case of this renovation project, the client specifically wanted to remodel the sanctuary to give appropriate prominence to the Crucifix and install a new tabernacle. We proposed that the image of the crucified Christ be accompanied with the addition of new statues of the Virgin Mary and St. John, thus creating a representation of the Calvary.We used the aesthetic of the Crucifix to realize the images of Our Lady and St. John. For this reason, both are set on a background of marbled wood in cream color. A carved wooden panel, polychrome in bluish gray and gold, serves as the enhanced background of both the entire apse area and the tabernacle.
