Chamber
of Sancha of León is located in the Royal Pantheon of the Royal Collegiate Church of St. Isidore of León. It is one of the most interesting spaces of the Isidorian complex. An intervention in the middle of the 20th century resulted in the removal of the murals, which were stored rolled up in the facilities of the Collegiate Church. The intervention recovered the interpretation of the space connected to the aesthetic time of its function as Chapter House. The paintings were reinstalled on rigid synthetic supports to guarantee the intervention could be reversed, if needed. The functionality and ornamental significance of the monumental doorway made by Juan de Badajoz was also restored. It was dismantled, moved, and reassembled in its original location. Given the quality and artistic interest of the underlying grisailles of the front wall, the paintings that concealed them were removed, so that they could be preserved. The paintings that had been removed were also transferred to a rigid support, covering the front wall by way of a removable system using pulleys.
