In our Art Workshops we have recently finished this replica of the Our Lady of Mercyor Mare de Déu de la Mercè, patron saint of Barcelona, a Gothic image attributed to Pere Moragues (14th century) whose devotion is widespread. We have made a first modeling in clay, from which we have executed the wood carving, which is stewed with fine gold, polychrome and stewed.
Our copy presents, as we usually do in these cases, significant differences that distinguish it from the original, but we have tried to imprint on it an antique character. This has been achieved through the use of certain techniques and materials, such as the red bowl. Another detail that can be observed in this sense is the careful placement of the fine gold leaves, whose shape can be seen on the back of the image. This same method can be observed in old images.
We have also carried out in our workshops the crowns and jewelry adorning the Virgin and Child, in shaped, cast and embossed silver, pearls, stones and enamels.
