GRANDA has been in charge of the sagrario for the Chapel of the new clinic of the Universidad de los Andes, in Chile. It is a tabernacle made of silver plated metal, with a relief of the Virgin and Child on the door and a relief of the Coronation of the Virgin on the back. Both scenes are framed by reliefs of grapes and ears of corn.
The chapel, which will open its doors in 2014is presided over by an altarpiece composed of a Christ and several lateral paintings -with scenes of the healings of Jesus Christ-, painted by the Spanish artist Ignacio Valdes. The tabernacle, entirely handmade in GRANDA's art workshops, is located behind the altar. The oratory has a second floor so that patients have easy access to the offices.
The new clinic was blessed on August 15, 2009 by Bishop Javier Echevarría, Bishop Prelate of Opus Dei and Honorary Rector of the Universidad de los Andes. The Clinic will begin operations in March of next year.
The University of the Andes was the first private Chilean university not belonging to the Council of Rectors to offer a degree in medicine, founded in September 1989 and headquartered in Santiago de Chile.
