Our intervention
included restoration of the altarpieces of the Nazarene and the Trinity together with the monumental set of canvases by Alonso Cano found in the chancel of the Cathedral of Granada (17th-18th centuries). In the case of the Nazarene and the Trinity, we restored both the altarpieces and their chapels as well as treated paintings, sculptures, plasterwork, wall paintings and ironwork. During the intervention, we discovered that three of the paintings in the Nazarene altarpiece were signed by an important Spanish artist José Ribera. The triforium paintings of the Life of the Virgin by Alonso Cano were also treated and assembled. To do so effectively and safely for the artworks, we had to design an elaborate elevation system.
