Our Los Rosales Vestment & Linen workshop was founded in 1958 by Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer. Los Rosales was to specialize in liturgical vestments and linens that would employ beautiful design and noble textiles, all with a view of corresponding to the dignity and needs for the liturgical celebration of the Holy Mass. At the workshop we keep alive a variety of traditional techniques, such as needle painting embroidery with silk threads, raised embroidery with gold threads and appliqués, and others. This allows to create a wide range of designs, including the motifs inspired by the style of Spanish specialized embroidery of the 16th and 17th centuries, when the art of hand embroidery reached its maximum splendor. We design and make a full range of liturgical use textile ornaments such as chasubles, copes, veils, palls, episcopal mitres, altar cloths, and processional banners.

At GRANDA we are experts in the traditional artistic techniques of fine silver and bronzeware, such as cold forging, carving, chiseling, and embossing or enamel. Our gold and silverware pieces stand out for integrity of design and exceptional quality of craftsmanship. We also offer extensive customization services for all precious metalwork and often collaborate closely with our clients to design iconographic programs in line with specific liturgical and devotional needs. We craft chalices, ciboria, candlesticks, altar crosses, patens, censers, tabernacles, and processional crosses – works that we principally carry out by hand.

At GRANDA we undertake all sorts of pictorial works, such as canvasses, fresco paintings and panel paintings with a view of beautification of interiors and evangelization through visual art. We execute religious painted works in all formats. We consult and collaborate with clients in the articulation of specific iconographic and ornamental programs for their churches, chapels, and other appropriate interiors. We adapt the style to ensure the best possible transmission of the message, considering the space, characteristics, and spirituality of each area.

From its beginning in the 1890’s, GRANDA has hired and collaborated with great masters of sculpture. Through the years, our artists carved numerous models, many of which became an acclaimed share of the history and practice of religious art. These models were kept in the workshop and are still available to our clients today. In the Granda workshop, we follow the age-old sculptural practice of European wood carving, which we bring to life through different polychrome finishes, as well as traditional artistic water gilding and estofado techniques. We also make sculptures in other materials including noble stones such as marble, alabaster, or granite. Both during the preliminary sketching, during modeling and later sculpting process, we always seek to create artworks that inspire worshippers and help them in prayer.

Through the years, we have built a solid reputation in this specialized field and are currently one of the leading Spanish companies who offer services in this area. GRANDA holds a privileged position in the domain of conservation and restoration thanks to the creative and artisanal capacities of our workshop, the support of artistic techniques that are hard to find across much of Europe, and a team of restorers with a long track record.
Our work ranges from large projects, which require the assembly of an on-site workshop, to smaller works, which we process at our atelier. We work both for private collectors and public tenders. We deal with the conservation-restoration of all sorts of pieces in all formats, including restoration of items made of precious metals (silver and bronze), fabrics, mural paintings, canvasses and panel paintings, sculptures, carvings and painted pieces, altarpieces, and wallpaper. In addition, our Workshop can carry out replicas of highest quality and accuracy.
