The church
of St. Nicholas of Bari, next to the cathedral of Burgos, houses an extraordinary Hontoria limestone altarpiece made in the 15th century in the Simón de Colonia’s workshop. The triple tomb of the Maluenda Miranda family is attached to the Gospel nave. The stone works had been damaged by the humidity of capillarity and alterations in the polychrome finish. The treatment included the stabilization of the supports and polychromies. Accordingly, we dismantled the beds from the tombs, extracted the salts, undertook their consolidation, as well as volumetric and chromatic reintegration. Financing: Government of the Region of Castile and León. Execution: Talleres de Arte GRANDA S.A.
